HOW MANY DAYS DOES OTTAI SENSOR LAST?
The Sensor can be worn for a maximum of 14 days, and all kits are non-reusable. Once the sensor is removed, please discard it while following all applicable local regulations related to the disposal of electronic equipment, batteries, sharps, and materials potentially exposed to interstitial fluids.
FINDING THE RIGHT SENSOR APPLICATION SITE
Our Sensor is designed to be applied to the rear of the upper arm for the best experience. We advise against applying Ottai on your abdomen, thigh, buttocks, back, or areas where daily activities or movements may cause the sensor to detach.
Please avoid using body lotions or creams in the area, as they can interfere with readings and impair the sensor's adhesion. Select a smooth area of skin free from birthmarks, stretch marks, scars, or lumps, at least one inch away from where you usually inject your insulin.
DOES IT HURT TO WEAR?
Our sensor is minimally invasive, and most users report feeling no pain at all, with a minority experiencing slight discomfort, which typically diminishes over time. If you continue to experience pain after wearing the sensor for 12 hours, please get in touch with Ottai customer care.
CAN I APPLY/WEAR IT MYSELF?
Ottai CGM is designed for simple applications and can be worn independently by the user or with assistance from a family member or friend if you encounter difficulties in operation.
WILL I FEEL UNCOMFORTABLE HAVING THE SENSOR IN MY BODY?
The sensor adopts a soft needle design, which does not cause any pain once successfully applied. The sensor, measuring only the size of a coin and weighing 1.6 grams, ensures imperceptible wearing and remains discreet throughout the 14-day period for you and others.
DO I ALSO NEED A WATERPROOF PATCH?
Generally speaking it is not necessary, the adhesive under the Sensor is sufficient for daily usage (supports shower or swimming). Wearing a waterproof patch on top may cause allergies and affects your experience.
DO I NEED TO TAKE IT OFF AND PUT IT BACK ON WHEN I TAKE A SHOWER?
No. Ottai is designed for both showering and swimming scenarios. The product has a protection level of IPX8, meaning you can stay 1.5 meter (4.92 feet) underwater for 30 minutes. Please also be aware that the Sensor is a single-use product. The monitoring session will be terminated if removed from one's body.
IS CGM NON-INVASIVE?
CGM is not strictly non-invasive because the sensor tip is in contact with interstitial fluid, but the sensor is small and soft, so it is considered minimally invasive.
HOW DO I START AND ACTIVATE THE SENSOR? HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO START WORKING?
Once logged into the Ottai App according to the operating instructions, wear the Sensor and hold your phone close to the Sensor, after hearing a beeping sound or sense vibrations, the Sensor should be activated. The first 60 minutes after activation is a warm-up period. After 60 minutes, you can see the first glucose data by tapping into the App.
ABOUT CGM
WHAT IS CONTINUOUS GLUCOSE MONITORING (CGM)?
It's wearable technology that auto-tracks your glucose level in real-time 24-7. You can view the readings and trends at any time of the day at a glance. It will give you a clear overview of the glucose trends and sugar tolerance corresponding to different events. Continuous glucose monitors have emerged for diabetes management assistance and eliminating frequent finger sticks with traditional glucose monitors.
WHAT DOES AN OTTAI CGM LOOK LIKE? WHAT ARE THE COMPONENTS?
The Ottai CGM device adopts an integrated design, with an overall appearance resembling a space capsule (Sensor and transmitter designed as one). Except for the hardware mentioned, users need to download the 'Ottai' app from the Google Play Store, App Store, or our website to access the real-time data and reports as needed.
IS IT NECESSARY TO WEAR A CGM?
Glucose management can be complicated, the glucose level will be affected by various factors. By utilizing the readings from CGM, you could use them as an additional reference to calibrate your lifestyle, evaluate medication effectiveness, exercise schedule, etc. to leverage your daily TIR. The clinical benefits of the CGM System include reductions in acute diabetic events, all-cause hospitalizations, hospitalized ketoacidosis episodes, improved well-being, and decreased disease burden.
WHAT DOES 24-HOUR CONTINUOUS MONITORING MEAN?
During the Ottai CGM lifespan, the device is designed to function with no downtime, monitoring & recording glucose levels non-stop —whether you're showering, working, exercising, or sleeping.
WHAT ARE THE ADVANTAGES OF OTTAI CGM COMPARED TO TRADITIONAL GLUCOSE MONITORS?
Eliminates frequent fingersticks, a less painful experience but with precise and continuous glucose level tracking.
Consistent trending reports, the CGM readings can better reflect the body's status compared to static values obtained from fingertip blood measurements. This facilitates doctors in identifying problems during consultations and prescribing targeted treatments.
Stay informed of what's going through inside the body, the dynamic adjustment of diet, medication & overall well-being could be made with detailed reports and analytics integrated.
Smart alerts based on the glucose level readings from the user, with customizations such as customized glucose level warnings with expected timeliness.* + footnote OTA explanation
HOW DO I MAKE USE OF CGM READINGS & REPORTS?
Individual users could utilize the readings and reports from the device to assist in daily glycemic control processes. Via analyzing the metabolic effect of glucose levels at all times, with corresponding events that take place and abnormal feedback of the body, the users could then:
Measure the glycemic content of food because of the difference in individuals' sugar tolerance.
Find prime time for the metabolism of each day, such as eating the same thing at different times of the day and observing the fluctuations in glucose.
... Ultimately, to pave the bridge to a brighter future for our users.
WHO BENEFITS FROM CGM DEVICES?
It's for everyone! Data supports the use of CGM for essentially everyone with different types of diabetes. But also groups of people with glucose monitoring demands. CGM is even being studied in people without diabetes, such as athletes. If you have type 2 diabetes, even without the need for insulin, CGM can be very beneficial. With our CGM devices, for the first time in history, people understand how their body responds to what they eat. If you eat a donut, the user can look directly at their smartphone and witness the blood sugar spike. Ottai aims to bring about significant lifestyle changes for both diabetic and non-diabetic individuals with QoL improvements.
ABOUT APP
UNABLE TO CONNECT THE SENSOR/DISCONNECTS:
Please double-check with us on the following scenarios to try to solve the problem:
App connectivity issues with the new Sensor:
- Please check if the NFC function on your mobile phone is enabled. If your phone does not have the NFC capability, please switch to a device with NFC functionality to complete the new device activation processes (NFC functionality is often represented by an 'N' icon in the settings).
- Please check if the Bluetooth feature of your mobile phone is enabled. Without Bluetooth enabled, the connection cannot be properly set up.
- Please ensure that your activation processes strictly follow the relevant steps outlined in the app's operation guidelines.
If you see a notification indicating disconnects with the applied Sensor:
- Please check if the Bluetooth feature of your mobile phone is enabled. Without Bluetooth enabled, the connection cannot be properly set up.
- When the smart device is within the transmission range with the Sensor, it will try auto-reconnect with the Sensor. You could wait to see if the app is refreshed with new data then. Or click the 'Reconnect' button at the homepage under the reading number display to manually re-connect following the guides displayed on the screen.
If the problem persists after multiple tries with mentioned steps taken, please don't hesitate to get in touch with the Ottai Customer Service crew or submit details through our Online Chat.
After I click on the 'Confirm' button of the 'End Monitoring' procedure on the current session page, will I be able to re-connect with the Sensor?
- Unfortunately, after you click and confirm the 'End Monitoring' procedures, the Sensor will auto-expire after that and is unable to continue the monitoring.
If you'd like to start another monitoring session, please place an order for new Sensors through trusted official sources and activate them.
WHY DO THE READINGS FROM OTTAI CGM NOT ALWAYS MATCH WITH THE BLOOD GLUCOSE MONITORING RESULTS?
Due to the difference in testing objects (Interstitial Fluids vs. Blood drops) and time concepts held (Metabolism lag, the level of glucose in interstitial fluid reacts slower than the level of glucose in the blood). Hence the user will witness different readings during combined usage of both devices. Please ensure that you leave an observation gap time for readings when major factors are leading to changes to glucose levels, such as meals, medication taken, exercises, and insulin dosages.
WHY WOULD I SEE LO/HI ON THE GLUCOSE CARD?
When the real-time glucose display value appears to be “LO”/“HI”. it means that your Sensor reading is out of the optimal measurement range:
HI: Glucose level is greater than or equal to 25mmol/L or 450mg/dL
LO: Glucose level is less than or equal to 2mmol/L or 36mg/dL Some diabetic
Patients may experience short-term spikes and drops in glucose, causing glucose readings to exceed our nominal range. If you feel uncomfortable, please measure your fingertip blood for confirmation, and seek medical treatment if necessary.
Abnormal readings may also be caused by improper wearing of your Sensor — looseness or detachment. In such cases, please check if the monitoring device is properly worn, and snug against your body without any tilting. After confirming that everything is in order, please wait patiently until the readings reappear. It may take approximately 5 minutes for the app to refresh readings. If abnormal readings persist, there may be a functional issue with your monitoring device. Please click the 'End Monitoring' button and remove the Sensor to replace it with a new one.
If you still have other questions, please contact us for further assistance.
WHEN THE SENSOR EXPIRES, WILL MY HISTORICAL DATA & REPORT BE SAVED UPON REPLACEMENT?
Yes, all of your blood glucose historical data and reports will be stored under your account. You can view your historical data by navigating to the statistics page and customizing the desired date range or by accessing historical blood glucose reports on your profile page.
If you receive a prompt from the app indicating unfinished data syncing, you will need to manually click the 'Wait for Sync' button to wait for the auto data synchronization between devices and the app. Otherwise, the missing data will not be saved under your account and cannot be retrieved anywhere.
