About Ottai® Sensor
HOW MANY DAYS DOES AN OTTAI SENSOR LAST?
The Sensor is designated for a 14-day wearing session. All kits are non-reusable. Once the Sensor is removed, please discard it while following all applicable local regulations related to the disposal of electronic equipment, batteries, sharps, and materials potentially exposed to interstitial fluids.
FINDING THE RIGHT SENSOR APPLICATION SITE
Our Sensor is designed to be applied to the rear of the upper arm for the best experience. We advise against applying the sensor on your abdomen, thigh, buttocks, back, or areas where excessive daily activities or movements may cause the Sensor to fall off.
Please avoid using body lotions or creams in the area, as they may interfere with readings and impair the Sensor's adhesion. Select a smooth skin area free from birthmarks, stretch marks, scars, or lumps, at least one inch away from where you usually inject your insulin.
DOES IT HURT TO WEAR?
Our Sensor is minimally invasive, and most users report feeling no pain at all, with a minority experiencing slight discomfort, which typically diminishes over time. If you continue to experience pain after wearing the sensor for 12 hours, please contact us for further assistance.
CAN I APPLY/WEAR IT MYSELF?
The Ottai CGM system is designed with simplified applications. It can be worn independently by the user or with assistance from a family member or friend if they encounter difficulties in operation.
WILL I FEEL UNCOMFORTABLE HAVING THE SENSOR IN MY BODY?
The Sensor adopts a tiny wire filament design, which does not cause too much sensible pain if appropriately applied. The Sensor is quarter-sized and weighing 1.6 grams, ensures a discreet wearing experience throughout the 14 days.
WHAT DOES THE PATCH DO?
The patch is an additional layer of adhesive that will assist in a steady application during the 14-day session. It's recommended to apply the patch right after the Sensor application to reduce the risk of Sensor detachment from the site. The product warranty may not cover issues arising from improper use or failure to apply the patch correctly.
SENSOR ACTIVATION AND INITIALIZATION.
When you follow the on-screen instructions in-app to apply the Sensor, you will be prompted to activate it. The initialization will take 60 minutes. You will receive notifications when the initialization phase ends and be able to see the latest reading in-app.
About the CGM System
WHAT IS CONTINUOUS GLUCOSE MONITORING SYSTEM (CGMS)?
It's wearable technology that automatically tracks your glucose level in real-time, 24/7. You can view the readings and trends at any time of the day at a glance. It will give you a clear overview of the glucose trends and sugar tolerance corresponding to different events. Continuous glucose monitors have emerged to optimize diabetes management and eliminate frequent fingersticks* with traditional glucose monitors.
*Please test BG if you suspect that the readings do not match your symptoms or feel unwell, make sure to seek timely assistance from qualified HCPs as needed.
WHAT DOES AN OTTAI® CGM LOOK LIKE? WHAT ARE THE COMPONENTS?
The Ottai® CGM device adopts an integrated design, with an overall appearance resembling a space capsule (①Sensor and ②transmitter integrated with the ③Applicator). Except for the hardware mentioned, users need to download the Ottai app from the Google Play Store/App Store, or the official website to access the real-time data, detailed summary and standardized reports.
IS IT NECESSARY TO WEAR A CGM?
Glucose management can be complicated. The glucose level will be affected by various factors. By utilizing readings from the CGM, you can use them as additional analytics to calibrate your lifestyle, evaluate medication effectiveness, exercise schedule, etc., to leverage your daily TIR. The clinical benefits of the CGM system include reductions in acute diabetic events, all-cause hospitalizations, hospitalized ketoacidosis episodes, improved well-being, and decreased disease burden in relative aspects.

Please seek timely advice from qualified HCPs and test BG if you feel unwell or have other concerns regarding your health conditions.
WHAT DOES 24-HOUR CONTINUOUS MONITORING MEAN?
During the 14-day monitoring period, the Sensor is designed to function without downtime, monitoring and recording glucose levels 24/7 non-stop.
WHAT ARE THE ADVANTAGES OF OTTAI CGMS COMPARED TO TRADITIONAL GLUCOSE MONITORS?
By utilizing the Sensor, the user is free from frequent fingersticks*, providing a less painful experience while still offering precise and continuous glucose level monitoring.
Consistent trend/pattern reports utilize CGM readings to better reflect the body's status compared to static values obtained from fingerstick tests. This helps doctors identify problems during consultations and prescribe targeted treatments*.
The user will be able to stay informed about what's happening inside the body and make dynamic adjustments for diet and overall well-being with standardized reports and integrated analytics. Also, smart alerts will be triggered based on Sensor readings, with a customizable profile available.

HOW DO I MAKE USE OF SENSOR READINGS & GLUCOSE REPORTS?
The readings, summaries with detailed metrics and glucose reports from the app can play a vital role in daily glucose management. By analyzing the metabolic effect of glucose levels throughout the selected period, along with any corresponding events and abnormal feedback from the body, users can then:
Measure the glycemic content of food due to the differences in individuals' sugar tolerance.
Figure out the metabolism prime time, such as eating the same thing at different times and observing glucose fluctuations.
......and more.
Ultimately, these will pave the way to a brighter future for people thriving with diabetes.
WHO CAN BENEFIT FROM CGM?
Almost everyone! Research shows that CGM can be helpful for people with various types of diabetes and anyone needing glucose monitoring. CGMS is also being used by people without diabetes, including athletes. Even if you have type 2 diabetes and don't require insulin, CGM devices can still provide valuable insights. Ottai Health aims to improve the quality of life and promote positive lifestyle changes for diabetic and non-diabetic individuals.
Ottai App Troubleshooting
UNABLE TO CONNECT THE SENSOR/DISCONNECTS:
Please run through checks on the following scenarios to try to solve the problem:
App connectivity issues with the new Sensor:
- Please check if the NFC function on your mobile phone is enabled. If your phone does not have the NFC capability, please switch to a device with NFC functionality to complete the new device activation processes (NFC functionality is often represented by an 'N' icon in the settings).
- Please check if the Bluetooth feature of your mobile phone is enabled. Without Bluetooth enabled, the connection cannot be properly set up.
- Please ensure your activation follows the steps outlined in the app's operation guidelines
If you see a notification indicating disconnects with the applied Sensor:
- Please check if the Bluetooth feature of your mobile phone is enabled. Without Bluetooth enabled, the connection cannot be properly set up.
- When the smartphone is within the transmission range of the Sensor (ideally within 10 meters/33 feet), it will try to auto-reconnect with the Sensor. You can wait to see if the app is refreshed, which normally takes a few seconds.
If the problem persists after multiple tries, please don't hesitate to contact the Ottai Customer Service team or submit details through our Online Chat.
After I confirm the 'End Session' action with my Sensor, will I still be able to continue monitoring??g?
- Unfortunately, after you click and confirm the 'End Session' procedure, the Sensor will auto-expire. If you'd like to start another monitoring session, please order new sensors through trusted official sources and activate them to proceed

WHY DO THE READINGS FROM THE OTTAI CGM NOT ALWAYS MATCH THE BLOOD GLUCOSE MONITORING RESULTS?
Due to the difference in testing objects (interstitial fluids vs. blood drops) and time concepts (metabolism lag; the glucose level in interstitial fluid reacts slower than the glucose level in the blood), the user will observe different readings when both devices are used together. Please ensure that you allow for an observation gap time for readings when major factors, such as meals, medication, exercise, and insulin dosages, are leading to changes in glucose levels.
WHY WOULD I SEE LO/HI ON THE GLUCOSE CARD?
When the real-time glucose display value appears to be “LO”/“HI”. it means that your Sensor reading is out of the optimal measurement range:
HI: Glucose level is greater than or equal to 25mmol/L or 450mg/dL
LO: Glucose level is less than or equal to 2mmol/L or 36mg/dL
HI: Glucose level is greater than or equal to 25mmol/L or 450mg/dL
LO: Glucose level is less than or equal to 2mmol/L or 36mg/dL
Users may experience short-term spikes and falls with the glucose level, causing glucose readings to go out of our nominal range. If you feel unwell or suspect the readings are not accurate, please measure your blood glucose to check and seek medical treatment as necessary. Abnormal readings may also be caused by improper application of your Sensor—looseness or detachment. Please check if the Sensor is properly applied and snug against your body without tilting. Then please wait patiently until the readings refresh. It may take approximately 5 minutes for the app to refresh readings. If abnormal readings persist, please get in touch with us for further assistance.
