Living with diabetes is its own adventure, and a Continuous Glucose Monitor (CGM) like Ottai can be your trusty wingman—giving you glucose updates without all the finger-pricking hassle. It’s built to stick around for 14 days, and with a few easy tricks, you can make sure it stays put.
1. Choose the Right Spot
- Where: Apply the sensor to the rear of your upper arm, specifically the soft, fatty area in the upper third from the back of your arm to your elbow.
- What to Avoid: Do not place it on sites with scars, moles, stretch marks, lumps, or areas that may be frequently rubbed by clothing or subject to frequent movement.
2. Clean the Area Thoroughly
- How: Wipe the chosen site with an alcohol pad and allow it to dry completely before applying the sensor.
3. Apply the Sensor Correctly
Steps:
a) Rotate open the bottom cover of the applicator.
b) Remove the safety cap from the top.
c) Place the applicator on the cleaned site.
d) Press the launch button and pull the applicator away gently.
- Important: Do not touch the button under the safety cap before placing it on your skin. After applying, gently press the adhesive tape around the sensor to attach it firmly.
4. Use the Overlay Patch
- How: Each package includes an overlay patch—apply it over the sensor to enhance adhesion and stability.
5. Be Mindful of Clothing and Movement
- Clothing: Avoid applying the sensor where tight clothing might rub against it.
- Movement: Select a site with minimal movement, as noted in the manual’s precautions.
6. Handle Water Exposure Properly
Waterproof Limits: The sensor is waterproof for showering, bathing, or swimming, but do not submerge it deeper than 2 meters or for more than 30 minutes.
After Water: Pat it dry with a clean towel.

Additional Notes from the Manual
- Avoid Certain Environments: Remove the sensor before MRI, X-ray, or CT scans, as these may damage it, requiring a replacement.
- Temperature Caution: Do not expose the sensor to direct sunlight or high temperatures.
- If It Loosens: A loose or detached sensor may result in no readings. If damaged, contact Ottai Support on WhatsApp here +85244897863, or click the dialogue icon on the right bottom of this page.
- Single Use: Do not reuse the sensor after peeled off — it’s designed for one 14-day period and extra grace period only.
